Become an
Inner Nature Writing™ Facilitator

Guide others through a structured, contemplative process that uses nature as a mirror for inner wisdom and writing as a tool for clarity and expression. Next cohort begins November 2026.

Most people are further from themselves than they realize. Inner Nature Writing™ is a method for changing that – using nature as a mirror, writing as a tool, and body and soul as guide.

As an Inner Nature Writing™ Facilitator, you’ll hold the confidence, wisdom, and roadmap to help guide others back home to their wise inner nature.

This training is for you if:

You want to lead others without being a guru, trusting that we each hold our own answers, even if somewhere hidden

You’re drawn to symbolism, archetypal energy patterns, and the subtle whispers of nature

You know that writing (creative and/or journal writing) is a powerful tool for deepening awareness, creativity, and clarity

You want to facilitate deep and meaningful inner work without overstepping into therapy or coaching

You want to lead work that’s rooted in nature’s wisdom but that offers the flexibility to share it virtually as well as in-person

What is Inner Nature Writing™?

Inner Nature Writing™ is a structured facilitation method that weaves nature, guided imagery, somatic embodiment, and writing into an experience that helps people reconnect with the wisdom of their inner nature.

In this method, nature isn't something participants simply sit and write about, nor analyze. It's encountered through the mind's eye as symbol, teacher, and mirror, bridging the gap between the nature "out there" and the nature within. Through a seven-stage process, participants are guided from nervous system regulation into an imaginal nature landscape, where symbolic meaning begins to emerge. That awareness is then rooted into the body, expressed through writing, and shared in a space of compassionate witnessing, before being carried forward into everyday life.

What makes it distinct from "meditation followed by journaling" is the intentional layering of these seven stages. Together, they don't just create a meaningful experience; they create the conditions for insight to take root in how our students and clients actually live.

A Note from Gillian

Hi, I’m Gillian, founder of Inner Forest School and creator of the Inner Nature Writing™ method. My work – and this course – are rooted in a deep understanding that nature is not separate from us, and that at any moment we can come home to its rhythm and wisdom (and we can help others do the same).

With 9+ years of experience working in wellness and 7+ years supporting others on their own journeys of becoming mindful teachers and facilitators, I hold deep care for the responsibility that comes with guiding others inward. This work asks us as facilitators to lead with care, wisdom, presence, and humility – and to stay close to our own inner landscapes as well.

Inner Nature Writing™ came to form after years of weaving nature, meditation, and writing together in my own sessions, and eventually discovering a structure and method worth naming, teaching, and sharing. This course is my way of passing that on in the hopes that more and more of us can lead lives that are deeply attuned to our wise inner nature.

FAQs

Do I need experience as a facilitator already?

1

Many participants who join will already guide others in some capacity–as coaches, teachers, or wellness practitioners. But some people join because they're interested in beginning to hold space for others, and this method offers a clear structure for doing that.

Is this work meant to be led outdoors?

2

Not necessarily, but you're welcome to. The nature we work with during this process is internal, in two senses: first, it awakens nature through imaginal inner landscapes (inner nature #1), then it unlocks our wise inner knowing and dormant or less-than-tended qualities (inner nature #2).

Do I have to attend live sessions?

3

This course is a hybrid course of both on-demand and live virtual learning. There are four live sessions held during the cohort and your attendance is mandatory at two of these sessions minimum. The sessions you cannot attend can (and must, for homework requirements) be tuned into via provided recording.

What is the homework required and how long will the course take?

4

The homework required for certification is as follows:

1) Completing a course workbook that corresponds with the on-demand lessons,
2) Submitting reflections of your own experience of the 4 Inner Nature Writing™ sessions offered during the course (at least two attended live), and
3) Two self-assessment forms completed by you after leading this work for others – fellow students, friends, family, or clients, in group or 1:1 sessions.

The entire course will take about 30 hours to complete, homework included. It is due November 4th, 2027. Late submissions will only be accepted with a $100 late submission fee and until Nov. 4, 2028, provided that the course is still being offered.
